Florida No. 1 In Collegiate Baseball Poll
The University of Florida is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball’s Fabulous 50 NCAA Division I pre-season poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
Last season the Gators (16-1) won their first 16 games of the season before losing to Florida St., 2-0. It was the third longest win streak in program history. Florida was so dominating that the Gators outscored opponents 123-46 and utilized a pitching staff that averaged 11 strikeouts a game (187 total in 17 games) and had an ERA of 2.41 with only 47 walks.
Returning from that amazing ball club are eight position player starters and the entire weekend starting rotation along with key relief pitchers, including closers.
The SEC led all leagues with five teams in the top 10 and 12 teams in the top 37.
