2021 High School Baseball Preseason All-Americans
Righthander Andrew Painter headlines the 2021 Baseball America High School Preseason All-America Teams. Painter is the sole unanimous first-team selection, with outfielder James Wood coming two votes shy of joining him.
Baseball America is proud to annually poll major league scouting departments to determine the first, second and third preseason teams. Because of the voting process, the Baseball America preseason All-American teams have been a predictor of the first round in the draft.
In both 2019 and 2020, seven of the 13 first-team players went on to become first-round draft picks.
Painter and Wood led all players with 16 and 14 first-team votes, respectively. Shortstops Marcelo Mayer (12), Jordan Lawlar (10) and outfielder Joshua Baez (10) were the other position players to reach double-digit first-team votes.
Righthanders Chase Petty (12), Jackson Jobe (11) and Chase Burns (11) also received double-digit first team votes.
One underclass player received enough votes to make the third-team—the No. 1 ranked player in the 2022 high school class, outfielder Elijah Green.
